WHOVILLE CHRISTMAS in K5

Wednesday, December 16th, all kindergarten classes will enjoy fun activities centered around the story of the Grinch and how his heart grew at Christmas! We will play math and literacy games, do math STEAM activities, make ornaments, and have a feast!  We will even take pictures in a photo booth.

Your child is welcome to dress up for this fun day!  Ideas include: wearing bright

colors, trying out some Who hairdos, or wearing antlers like the Grinch’s dog (Max) to name a few.  Need some inspiration?  Check out these pictures:

Week of December 7-11

This is our favorite time of year!  We love teaching your precious children the TRUE meaning of Christmas.  We understand that Kindergarteners do not understand that we still have several weeks before the big holiday... it is important to keep their routines as normal as possible on a school day.  It is also important to remind them to be their best and follow the classroom rules.

This week, we sent home a letter explaining our Kindergarten service project.  We are challenging them to do some “good deeds'' for their family, friends, neighbors and/or complete strangers.  Our goal is to let our light shine BRIGHT this holiday season. Please fill out the red hearts with your child’s name and their good deed.  We will be hanging these hearts on a giant Grinch in our hallway!  Thank you for your support and cooperation.  We value this partnership so much!

This week we learned:

Bible- Joseph and the Battle at Jericho

Phonics- Rhyming words, C & K phonics rules, attributes of a sentence

F & F Reading/writing- Grinch theme

Math- sorting, counting and graphing

Social Studies-  Economics- goods & services, wants vs. needs

The PTF Christmas Shoppe is coming December 9th (Dixon & Childers) & December 10th (Holbrook & Kulp).  Students can shop for their family members while raising money for our awesome PTF!  This is a popular event for all the children. They really enjoy picking out a little something special for their loved ones.   A flyer was sent out this week with a shopping list.

12/16 - Whoville Christmas Day is coming soon!  Kindergarten students and teachers will dress up as their favorite Who character. We will play learning games, make crafts, watch the movie and celebrate with a Whoville feast!  We will be sending out a sign-up genius link next week to help with needed donations.  Thank you in advance for your willingness to help with these fun & educational activities.

12/18 - Last day before Christmas break, Half Day.

01/05 - First day back from Christmas break.

  • Don’t forget to have your child do as many good deeds as possible this week.  Record them on your “Good Deeds”  heart.  Remember to send them in so we can put them on the big Grinch in the hall!

  • The weather is getting colder!  Don’t forget to send in a coat each day with your child.  Please write your child’s name on all outerwear and accessories.

  • If your child wears the new Christmas NCCS shirt on any day other than Friday, he/she must wear uniform pants.  NO jeans except on Friday, please!
