It was wonderful to be able to share your child’s progress with you during our parent teacher conferences.  Thank you for partnering with us to help your child grow spiritually, academically and socially...We are excited to watch God’s big plans unfold for each and every one of our students!

We pray you will have a relaxing & safe Fall break.  Whether you are traveling somewhere or taking a staycation, enjoy your precious family time.  We will send home the homework calendar when we get back from vacation. We will see you back at school on Monday, October 5th!

Apple Day:  This year’s Apple Day was awesome.  Thank you to all the parent volunteers who donated supplies and/or came to help with the apple stations...we couldn’t do it without your generous support!  Thank you for making learning FUN for our students!

F & F Reading- story sequencing

Thanks to those of you who have donated supplies for this special event.  We ask that you please send in your donations no later than Wednesday, September 23rd.  If you are volunteering to help with Apple Day, please plan to be at the school by 8:00 on Friday, September 25th.  You will need to check in at the front and have your temperature checked.  Masks are required to help with this event.

Super Sight Words

We are close to completing our first set of 26 sight words for the year...only 8 more to go!  Please be sure to review them with your child each night.  When your child is able to read all 26 sight words with fluency, he/she will receive a special Superman brag tag!  Also, please remember to return the sight word flashcards every Friday morning in the Daily Folder.  We will add the new set of words to the sight word ring that day so that the students have them to practice for the coming week.

If your child is having difficulty learning sight words, here are some ideas for helping them:

  1. Paper Plate Toss: Write sight words on paper plates. Use them like frisbees to throw after reading the word. Add in some additional fun by adding a target.

  1. Flashlight Words: Turn off the lights. Tape words on the wall or ceiling. Use the flashlight to shine on the word, then have your child read it.

  1. Go Fish: With a duplicate set of word cards play “Go Fish.” You can easily make your own cards out of index cards.

  1. Tic-Tac-Toe: Write words in the tic-tac-toe spaces. Take turns selecting a space to read. If read correctly, an X or O is placed on the space until someone wins.

Snack reminders:  Please send in only 1 healthy snack each day.  Please do not pack “choices” for them to decide at school.  Snack time is limited and for some, deciding what to eat can take up way too much time!  Our lunchtime is at 11am every day so they do not need a lot of snacks because they will not eat their lunches.  Here’s an idea: Make a dedicated space/container with a variety of snack options.  Have your child pick out their snack the night before... this simple chore helps teach them to be decisive, to plan ahead and to become independent thinkers.  Thank you for your support! :)

Homework  Assignments:

Choose 1 or more activity each day.  All 5 activities need to be completed by Friday.

1. Use the handwriting paper to practice writing your first and last name.

2. Go onto Seesaw and complete the Apple Letter Sound activity.

3. Complete the CVC beginning and ending sounds worksheet.  Remember your zoo phonics as you sound out the word.

4. Practice drawing 3D shapes while watching this how to draw video :  https://www.youtube.cinkom/watch?v=_XJ1A5io8vc

 5. Find 2D & 3D shapes around the house- Practice counting the edges  (sides) and  vertices (corners).  A square has 4 edges and 4 vertices.  A circle has 0.

Daily Assignments:

  • Practice Bible verse: ...and he made him a robe of many colors.  Genesis 37:3b

  • Practice new sight words- go, in, purple, black

Have a safe & relaxing Fall break-
